Description: BBL TRIS-buffered saline (TBS, 10X), with 0.1% Tween 20 (TBST) is one of the most commonly used biological buffers for plate based immunoassays and Western blotting. It is isotonic, non-toxic to cells and contains a non-ionic detergent. It is It is used as a wash buffer and for sample preparation in general immunoassay applications, Tween 20 reduces nonspecific binding and protein: protein interactions. TBST is often used for diluting secondary antibodies or streptavidin-AP conjugate. TBS-Tween 20 is often used for washing steps.

Applications:

• Used preferably as an antibody diluent and wash reagent in ELISA and Western blotting using alkaline phosphatase or peroxidase-conjugated antibodies.
• Used as a blocking buffer for ELISA, Western and other immunoassays
• Can also be used along with 5% milk to block proteins on nitrocellulose in western blotting
